Echoes Act 2: A Distant Reply is an introductory quest that takes you on a new journey following the defeat of The Witness.
A new being known as The Conductor has found a power that it is now using to control the Vex and may soon reach further enemies.
This item is known as the Echo, which has given the power to control and command, giving the conductor the ability to take over the Black Fleet.

This quest became available during the Echoes Act 2 update and is available to those who have completed the first act.
Players who log in after the update will automatically have this introductory quest in their Quest Menu and may begin right away.

Step 1: Speak to Ikora in the Tower
Once you log in and find this quest, your first step will be to head to the Tower and make your way to the bazaar to find Ikora Rey.
Speak with Ikora Rey to get a briefing on what is going on and this will end up with you starting the next episode of The Final Shape.

It seems that whatever was left from The Witness has landed on Nessus and possibly other areas, which Ikora Rey calls an Echo.
