Clear skies across the region this morning have led to very cold temperatures and patchy fog in some valley locations. Temperatures are in the single digits in the Long Valley this morning with teens and twenties in the Treasure Valley. After all the rain and snow last week, high pressure across the region is leading to a quiet week for Idaho. We expect little fluctuation in temperatures this week with strengthening valley inversion.

Low clouds and patchy dense fog are likely to form in the valleys throughout the week as temperature inversion will be in place. Air quality will gradually deteriorate as our air mass will remain stagnant in the valley, the current reading is in the Moderate category. Temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-30's in the valley throughout the week, dropping into the low 20's for overnight lows.

As per usual with valley inversion, temperatures in the mountain valleys will become warmer than our temperatures in Boise. Highs in the upper 20's are expected through Wednesday, climbing into the mid-30's by the end of the week. Dry weather will stick around for all areas into early next week. The next chance for fresh snow might not arrive until the latter half of next week. Stay tuned.
