Garden City inmate dies in his sleep, Ada Sheriff says

A 42-year-old Garden City man who was an inmate at the Ada County Jail appears to have died in his sleep, the sheriff's office says.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office says David L. McClure was booked into the jail Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m. for failure to appear. Deputies say he showed no significant signs of physical distress or intoxication during his intake assessment and was placed into a closed custody unit.

Deputies did a visual check on McClure every 30 minutes until he was discovered unresponsive at about 7 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies and health services staff provided first aid, including CPR, and called for paramedics, however, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A cause of death is still being determined.
