Halle Open 2024 Draw Preview

First Quarter

The first quarter of the singles draw has two seeded players- Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Thus, there is a high chance that these two might end up in the quarterfinal from this quarter. However, there are few promising names in the list who can pose a threat to the two seeded players. Sinner will be opening his campaign against Tallon Griekspoor.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas plays wildcard entrant Henri Squire in the first round. The Greek ace had a decent clay season after a mediocre outing in the hardcourt swing. Now, as the season moves to grass court, Tsitsipas will be hoping to continue his momentum. The 26-year-old had a second-round exit last year and would definitely want to change it this time around.

Another interesting match from the quarter is expected to be between Roman Safiullin and Fabian Marozsan. The two unseeded players will fight for a place in the second round and a potential clash with Sinner.

Quarterfinal prediction: Jannik Sinner vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

Second Quarter

Daniil Medvedev is the top seed in the second quarter and will be opening his campaign against Nuno Borges. The Russian ace is expected to sail through into the second round where he can meet Sebastian Ofner. Medvedev can then make it into the third round considering he has been a proven performer on grass.

Meanwhile, defending champion Alexander Bublik, who is also in the same quarter will open his campaign against a qualifier and might face Christopher Eubanks in the second round. The Kazakh ace is expected to win against the American and book a quarterfinal spot against Medvedev.

Quarterfinal prediction: Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Bublik

Third Quarter

Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev are the two seeded players in the third quarter. While Hurkacz will play his first-round match against Flavio Cobolli, Rublev opens his campaign against veteran Marcos Giron. The two players are expected to make it to the second round without much problems.

There, Bublik is expected to meet Joao Fonseca while Rublev will have another tough opponent in Matteo Berrettini. The Russian ace has two challenging games upfront but he is expected to win them and set up a quarterfinal clash against 2022 champion Hurkacz.

Quarterfinal prediction: Hubert Hukacz vs Andrey Rublev

Fourth Quarter

The fourth quarter is beautifully set up with Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime being the two seeded players while Arthur Fils, Tomas Machac, Miomir Kecmanovic, and Lorenzo Sonego will also be fighting for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Talking about seeded players, Auger-Aliassime plays Dominik Koefper in the first round and the Canadian will be expecting a tough fight. However, considering his form this season, he might just make it to the second round where he will face Frenchman Arthur Fils. Meanwhile, Zverev has a qualifier to face in the first round.

The 2024 Roland Garros finalist will then most probably meet Lorenzo Sonego in the second round. Zverev is expected to make it to the quarterfinals without much fuss. There, the German ace is expected to meet Auger-Aliassime.

Quarterfinal prediction: Alexander Zverev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

Semifinal

The four expected semifinalists at the 2024 Halle Open are Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, and Hubert Hurkacz. While Zverev and Sinner will have their tasks cut, Medvedev and Hurkacz will have to fight for their place in the semifinal.

Medvedev, in particular, will have a really tough opponent in Bublik. The Kazakh ace is the defending champion. Nevertheless, the head-to-head record between the two players suggests that Medvedev has a better chance to win.

Semifinal 1: Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev

Semifinal 2: Alexander Zverev vs Hubert Hurkacz

Final

Both semifinals will be hard-fought matches. However, Jannik Sinner, the World No. 1 is expected to topple the Russian ace considering how he has managed to take the head-to-head record from 0-6 to 5-6. Sinner has won all of his matches against Medvedev this year and this one is also expected to be a win for the Italian.

Meanwhile, Zverev has an advantage over Hurkacz but the fatigue of staying till the end at the French Open might come back to bite the German ace. Thus, Hurkacz stands a chance to meet Sinner in the final. But it looks inevitable for Sinner to win the Halle Open 2024.

Final: Jannik Sinner vs Hubert Hurkacz

Winner: Jannik Sinner
