Residents vote on $78 million Vallivue School District levy Tuesday

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) A $78 million Vallivue School District bond will be voted on by residents on Tuesday. The bond would allow construction of two new elementary schools, new roofs and HVAC systems for Vallivue High School and East Canyon Elementary as well as land purchase for future schools.

A $78 million Vallivue School District bond will be voted on by residents on Tuesday. The bond would allow construction of two new elementary schools, new roofs and HVAC systems for Vallivue High School and East Canyon Elementary as well as land purchase for future schools.

The district says it is requesting a bond because six of Vallivue's seven elementary schools are overcrowded.

Vallivue Superintendent Lisa Boyd says if the bond passes, the tax levy rate will not increase and more taxes will not be collected per household. "[The tax rate is] at $2.15 per thousand. It will stay that way regardless of the bond. We're not asking for an increase," Boyd says.
