Carlos Sainz’s verdict on his qualifying for the Bahrain GP
The Spaniard has left the news of his sacking behind and has decided to focus on maximizing the points scored throughout the season. Following this, Sainz secured P4 on the grid for today’s race, just a tenth away from his teammate.
It was a super tight session and all in all it hasn’t been a bad first qualifying for the season. In Q3 we were not able to really put everything together, but we are in a decent spot for tomorrow’s race in P4. After testing we are confident that we have improved our race pace compared to the beginning of last year, so I’m looking forward to finally going at it tomorrow and finding out where we are on pace. Let’s kick-off the season with a good one!Carlos Sainz said as reported by F1
Leclerc was just two-tenths away from clinching pole under the lights in Bahrain. However, the Spaniard was also not far way behind and qualified on the second row for the race. Sainz explained that it was a close session that covered seven cars lapping within half a second of each other.
The 29-year-old seemed optimistic that the car is in better shape in terms of race pace than 12 months ago. Thus, Sainz reckons that he would be battling at the front for the top spot and feels, it will be a tough challenger for the mighty Red Bulls.
